You see me.
And I see you.
We both pause
…
You turn to face me head on
And you sniff the air.
I smile and whisper “hello”
We stare at each other.
Me not daring to move.
Eventually you turn and begin to run
and then I see the others —
six deer in total
leaping,
effortlessly through the woods,
full of grace and ease.
I watch as you all disappear
into the thicket.
And I am left
awe struck at their soft nature.
Their gentle aura.
And their ability to navigate difficult terrain
with such ease.
They flow with the land,
quietly and gently —
gliding
with the undulating ground.
And I know they are reminding me
to be gentle
and nurturing to myself,
as I too navigate
the undulating grounds of life.
